The verdict
Irish single pot still whiskey uses a mash of malted and unmalted barley, and that gives it a creamy, spicy texture you won't find in Scotch. The Spot range goes back to the colour-coded wine merchants' bottlings of Mitchell & Son in Dublin.
The Málaga cask is what makes Yellow Spot special. It adds a sticky, sweet-wine richness that pairs beautifully with the pot still spice.
