Nose
Sea spray, smoke, lemon and a little dried fruit.
Palate
Peppery and maritime; peat smoke, sweet malt and brine.
Finish
Long and warming, with the famous chilli-pepper kick.
The verdict
Talisker is the only distillery on Skye, and the 10-year-old has been the gateway to smoky whisky for generations. It's less medicinal than Islay, but it's unmistakably coastal.
That peppery burst on the finish is the distillery's signature. Try it with smoked salmon or, of course, oysters.
