Nose
Baked apple, malt, toffee and a gentle trace of smoke.
Palate
Full and rich; orchard fruit, butterscotch and peppery oak.
Finish
Long and warming, with a light smoke returning at the end.
The verdict
Benromach in Forres makes Speyside whisky the way it was made in the 1960s: with a touch of peat smoke in the background. This single cask was picked for Germany by Schlumberger, and it's bottled by hand at full strength.
